Sustainable Gardening. Week 2: Keep hardscape that is in good shape. And if you’re going to remove concrete from you property, break it up into pieces approx. 1 square foot, then re-use this ‘urbanite’ to build a raised bed or low retaining wall. It looks very natural, after all concrete is primarily different types of aggregate such as gravel, limestone, or granite, plus a fine aggregate such as sand, and cement, also derived from stone or ash.

Above is a picture of a raised bed made with urbanite that I borrowed from someone else. I’ll post a picture from one of my gardens as soon as I can get it together.
