One of my favorite trees: Ginkgo biloba - Maidenhair Tree

The 1st picture is of the spring and summer foliage. The 2nd picture shows the foliage turning yellow in the fall. This tree is virtually pest-free which is why it's been around for 160 - 200 million years (yup, it was around with the dinosaurs!). In our SF Bay Area climate it typically gets to be about 40 - 60 feet tall and about 1/2 as wide. It's VERY SLOW growing, so get the largest one you can afford. It's worth it. Oh yeah, only get the male variety because the female's fruit smells pretty bad. Plant it in full sun to part shade. Enjoy it's beauty all year!
